MISSION STATEMENTThe DeKoven Center’s Mission is to provide programs for spiritual growth and reflection, as well as facilities for conferences, retreats, meetings, social events, and recreation. STATEMENT OF GOALSThe DeKoven Center’s goals are to continue – with nationally recognized speakers and leaders – the great educational and cultural traditions for which Racine College and The DeKoven Foundation have been known for over 150 years; to preserve, through on-going restoration, the unique quadrangle of the nine National Register buildings; and to provide for the local community and out of state guests facilities for meetings and activities which bridge and unify the ethnic and cultural diversity of our community. GOVERNANCEThe DeKoven Center is a self-supporting, self-governing entity with historic ties to the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee. The Center is governed by a Board of Directors of local citizens the majority of whom are from Racine, with others from southeastern Wisconsin and the greater Chicago area. FURTHER INFORMATIONThe DeKoven Center is a 501(c)3 organization overseen by a local board of Racine, Milwaukee, and Chicago citizens, for the purpose of providing programs for body, mind, and spirit. We host groups from around the world and sponsor our own programs of continuing education, spiritual reflection, recreation, and the creative arts. We also welcome individuals for private retreats and groups for social and business functions, family reunions, weddings and receptions. Approaching its 160th year of service, The DeKoven Center is located on the campus of the old Racine College (1852). All nine buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places, and our Quadrangle and Collegiate Chapel have been acclaimed as among the best preserved buildings of their type in the nation. |
