DeKoven Center and The Quiet Garden Movement
We are also proud to be a part of The Quiet Garden Movement which is an English foundation dedicated to providing time apart in busy lives within the beauty and stillness gardens evoke simply by being what they are. The Rev. Philip Roderick of Oxfordshire, England founded the Quiet Garden Movement in 1992 as a ministry of hospitality and prayer. In 1992 there was 1 Quiet Garden, 40 in 1995, and by the end of 1999 there were 177. Today there are 277, of which The DeKoven Center is happy to be one.Frequently Jesus chose to withdraw, sometimes with his closest friends, into a natural setting to be with God. The Quiet Gardens see the creative hand of God at work, drawing people to places where they can be refreshed. The Quiet Garden offers the opportunity for silence, for stillness, for reflection.
